Further Changes to Geek Estate

I wanted to followup on Mike Price’s post regarding the changes ocurring here at Geek Estate. First, to summarize all the moving pieces in terms of Geek Estate Blog and myself:

  1. I returned to the United States from my travels abroad about 3 weeks ago.
  2. I’ve decided to join Virtual Results in a full time capacity — and will be running marketing and overseeing a new “predesigned websites that work” product offering Jim and I have been working on (more info on that product here).
  3. As Mike mentioned, Zillow has handed ownership of Geek Estate Blog over to me to focus on other things. The blog was founded in 2007 by Zillow and maintained by them for the past three years, but Zillow is moving in other directions and spending more and more time with Zillow Blog. I anticipate Zillow will remain an active member of this community, they just won’t be maintaining & driving it forward on a day to day basis
  4. In my role running marketing for Virtual Results, you’ll begin to see Geek Estate Blog acting as a member of the Virtual Results family. You’ll see some Virtual Results branding on this blog once we do a complete redesign of the site sometime after the 1st of the year. You’ll also likely see me writing more and more about WordPress since I’m now immersed in WordPress blogs everyday as part of my workday helping VR clients such as Doug Heddings at True Gotham and Ann Brizolis at Rancho Santa Fe Community Home Finder.

I want to thank all the loyal contributors and readers who have stuck with us through thick and thin over the past few years — I’m confident there are big things on the horizon for Geek Estate, so cheers to a big year in 2011!

If you have any questions about anything, feel free to leave them in the comments or email me at drew at ohheyworld dot com

[Update: I am no longer employed by Virtual Results]
