What Happens When Alexa Talks First?

by Drew Meyers on 12:13 pm February 16, 2017

Most mornings, I ask Alexa about the weather and daily news. It’s replaced me using my oven timer (best feature by far). Unfortunately, Alexa/AppleTV don’t work together, or I’d use Alexa a lot more (have an AppleTV, and play a lot of music using the YouTube app). It’s honestly pretty useless for random questions, but that will get better over time (I’m sure Google Home is much better at that side). At Inman, Rich Barton brought up an interesting question in his discussion with John Cook: What … Read More »

Chatbots (and AI) — and Winning the Consumer

by Drew Meyers on 1:21 pm February 10, 2017

There’s a lot of talk about AI and bots. Much of it centered around increased conversion and acquisition. Cool tech for the sake of tech is great. But that doesn’t make it a business, nor does it make it a product consumers want (or need) to use. What problem is AI/bot X solving for buyers and sellers? Is the solution/experience 10x as good as the present one? It seems focusing on segments of the real estate industry where frequency of transactions are much, much higher — investing, rentals, home builders, etc … Read More »

AI Data Startup Lands $2m Seed Funding

by Michael Price on 6:26 pm February 8, 2017

Today’s Geek word is “Ethnographic”. Basically, it’s the presentation of data as it applies to society or groups. Lynden Foust, Spatial’s CEO and a team of about 10 engineers are building a social layering platform that uses AI to cull about 30 different social media sources for location based data.  A simple line of code added to a map is all that’s needed to beef up search results with a myriad of neighborhood social content. Making Data Sexy Spatial’s concept provides RE pros with a … Read More »

A 2nd Viewpoint on Real Estate Innovation in 2017

by Drew Meyers on 12:55 pm December 22, 2016

What am I thinking about as we go into 2017? What innovation are we going to see in the new year? I figured I’d write my own predications to follow Walter’s. Here we go… AI — I agree with Walter that AI is going to continue to be a point of innovation in 2017 (and beyond). I believe there is an opportunity to use AI to “predict” homes buyers would be interested in — without them even asking. That said, I hesitate to include AI … Read More »

Geeking Out On Artificial Intelligence In Real Estate

by Nathan Joens on 8:00 am September 6, 2016

As a real estate guy, sometimes I look over to my data scientist’s screen and believe what he is doing is some sort of magic — it’s like pure computer science sorcery. I mean, they’re building a chatbot that can communicate using human language and learn from the conversations it’s having. It’s like me every time I have a conversation with my data science team I learn something about artificial intelligence and I’d like to share that with you. So straight from the minds of 3 … Read More »
