IDX Companies Beware (with a Hint from Zillow Group)

by Drew Meyers on 8:30 am November 8, 2017

[Update: I totally spaced and forgot Market Leader bought Diverse Solutions. My bad.] I visited Zillow Group’s investor relations page because I wanted to listen in on yesterday’s earnings call (you can see results of Q3 here). [text in the next few paragraphs below is irrelevant given Diverse is owned by Market Leader] As I was scrolling down the page, I noticed a specific company missing from their “Business Brands” section. Bridge Interactive, dotloop, and Mortech. The company missing? None other than Zillow’s IDX company, Diverse Solutions. There has … Read More »

The State of IDX Products, and IDX APIs

by Drew Meyers on 11:54 am September 26, 2016

Is it just me, or is there not much innovation occurring with IDX these days? Diverse Solutions long had the reputation for being the most innovative IDX vendor, but then sold to Zillow, saw product problems (documented here), and were just recently unloaded to Market Leader. Displet sold to Tribus. Long time readers may remember Real Geeks won our Geek Build 2012 IDX decision. The company I hear the most about is IDX Broker. They may win the game and become the default dominance player by sheer perseverance. Most companies … Read More »

The Sad Decline of Diverse Solutions IDX

by Mike McGee on 6:22 pm September 1, 2016

If you’ve followed my posts here on Geek Estate, you know I’ve had a long history as a customer of Diverse Solutions. I’m not sure exactly when I started with them, probably sometime in 2008, but I was using their dsSearchAgent (Mapping IDX) well before they launched dsIDXpress (WordPress IDX). Their Mapping IDX was truly innovative, enabling DIY agent/broker/webmasters to embed a world-class search tool as attractive and intuitive as any custom option available at the time. Then they released their revolutionary WordPress IDX plugin, democratizing indexable IDX … Read More »

Responsive real estate website design – a DIY project, Part 2

by Mike McGee on 6:09 am February 3, 2014

OK, it’s taken a lot longer than I expected, but it’s finally time for the “big reveal” of the new, mobile-responsive makeover of my company’s website, But first, some background on the project. If you have a fairly simple site, consisting primarily of text with some photos, this can be fairly simple. A well-designed, responsive theme takes care of the rest, making your content look good on all devices, right out of the box. However, if you have more complex content, your workload can … Read More »

dsIDXpress PRO, Now at Your Disposal

by Drew Meyers on 1:43 pm August 1, 2012

In case you’ve missed the news from yesterday, dsIDXpress PRO (from Diverse Solutions) is now available. dsIDXpress was cool. And, though I haven’t personally played with the new product, based on the blog post on Diverse Solutions’ blog, dsIDXpress PRO looks awesome. Everything that was missing from dsIDXpress — chiefly forced and delayed registration settings (aka lead capture) — is now included in dsIDXpress PRO. Previously, leap capture features were only features included in dsSearchAgent. I know for a fact agents have been asking for that … Read More »

Geek Build 2012 IDX Review #1 – Diverse Solutions

by Daniel Bacon on 9:19 pm March 20, 2012

This is the first of several posts relating to the IDX solutions that are on the table for Geek Build 2012, and focuses on my experience with Diverse Solutions. This post is meant to start a dialogue relating to the pros and cons of their products as contenders for the Geek Build 2012 websites. I have used Diverse Solutions’ products for over two years now, both their dsSearchAgent and dsIDXpress products. dsSearchAgent is their primary product and is a map-based search tool. dsIDXpress is an … Read More »

Two MLS's, Metrolist and Santa Barbara, Boot Diverse Solutions/Zillow

by Drew Meyers on 11:09 pm February 7, 2012

It happened — Metrolist and Santa Barbara booted Diverse Solutions (now owned by Zillow) from their list of approved IDX vendors. The Metrolist decision was reported by Geek Wire, while Inman picked up on the fact (premium content) that Santa Barbara had also pulled the plug. Eric Stegemann has a good read as well. Personally, I don’t buy any of the reasons given by Metrolist. As marketing Director Melissa Olson says, “At some point, we have to start taking a look at our current offering and how many … Read More »

Zillow Acquires Diverse Solutions – What Does This Mean for Everyone?

by Drew Meyers on 11:04 am November 3, 2011

+ Wow, the Zillow acquisition of Diverse Solutions for $7.8 million in cash and stock is big big news for this industry. I’ve got a unique perspective on this announcement for a few reasons: At Virtual Results, we work extremely closely with Diverse Solutions. Their dsIDXpress comes standard with every Predesigned Website that Works (dsSearchAgent is optional), and on most of our customs. I worked for Zillow for almost 5 years & worked with Diverse Solutions as an API partner starting back in 2007 (& 2008). I happen … Read More »

Using QR Codes with dsSearchAgent Mobile

by Dominic Morrocco on 9:36 am September 6, 2011

Effective use of QR codes in your marketplace will make you look like a tech-savvy, industry-leading rock star.  Ineffective use, will make you look like a fool. You only need to understand one principal to direct your QR strategy.  Your end-user, or lead, is using a mobile device.  It is paramount the content you deliver, be mobile format friendly.  Relevancy is a nice bonus. For many agents, this means a single property website solution offered by an online vendor.  A simple, mobile-friendly landing page with … Read More »
