I’ve long thought (known) there is opportunity for brokerages to be the local market expert with the media (I wrote that post over 4 years ago in 2011). I agree with Brian — Pacific Union’s Market Pulse video is a smart approach to delivering local real estate market conditions. Here’s an example: Is your brokerage investing in video in 2015? If not, I advise you strongly consider it.

I wrote about empathy last night. Unrelated to that occurrence, but related to the topic, I watched a TED talk today that everyone should watch — Anand Giridharadas: A tale of two Americas. And the mini-mart where they collided: [via TED]

I just watched a TED talk with Theaster Gates about reviving neglected neighborhoods through art. It’s worth watching: I wrote about the concept of a startup house this weekend. The motivator for building either an art hub or a startup house is the exact same: building local community. Of course, community is the long game, which is why so few people invest in it.

If you haven’t tried out Instagram’s new Hyperlapse app (and your Facebook feed isn’t already full of your friends’ time lapse videos), stop reading this article, get the app, and try it out right now. My first reaction to this app was that its ability to shoot a time lapse video from a mobile phone was really interesting, but its ability to stabilize video through its programming that constantly monitors the phone’s gyroscope was the really useful feature. Steve Pacinelli at Tech Savvy agent beat … Read More »

I just came across this video, Bounce. You should watch it. My bet is that you’ll get through the whole thing. It’s basically a soccer version of Where the Hell is Matt. Some of you may have seen several of the Where the Hell is Matt videos over the years. The concept is simple: Matt Harding, dancing all over the world. Here’s one from 2006: My question: why has no one done a “where the hell is matt” in a real estate context? There are tons … Read More »

Most of us can recognize the power of a good video when it comes to marketing real estate. Videos are seriously influential communication tool that can help us convey the value in a property – and when we’re talking about the difference between selling a property now vs. later, or selling for $20K more vs. $20K less – why isn’t everyone using videos to promote their property listings? I can’t speak for the masses, but I’m willing to bet that a lot of real estate … Read More »

Here is the story behind the boutique real estate group… What’s your story?

Watch this video… Yes, it’s about the building and the units within it. But it’s actually peeling back the curtain to the lifestyle that goes with living in the Fuente Laureles Penthouse. I’m going to Medellin, Colombia for a month, departing a week from today. The video above was a big part of that decision. Why are more not taking advantage of the power of video to sell lifestyles?

Everyone planning to do video in 2014, you have something to aspire to… We Put You There I love it. The video is from Red Oak Realty, in the East Bay. I know absolutely nothing about their brokerage, but the video leaves an amazing, lasting impression of their company. I’d say that’s a job well done. Props to their team for turning an amazing vision into reality. On top of that, it certainly doesn’t hurt their brand image when I see the following on their home … Read More »
