We kicked off our Geek Estate founding member interviews with Jennifer Kjellgren a couple weeks ago. The interviews are meant to give you a taste of current business priorities, products and trends to watch in 2018, and what they enjoy about being a member.
Our 2nd founding member interview is with Sep Niakan from HB Roswell Realty in Miami. An avid reader of Geek Estate Blog since the very early years (2008 or 2009 I’d guess), I first met him at Inman in New York many years ago. He’s always struck me as a broker with a very firm grasp of the technology side of the business.
Without further ado…
What’s your most significant business focus for 2018?
Taking Condo Black Book national and monetizing it, either with exclusive referral partners in each city or a licensing model. That said, my biggest focus will be in continuing to make finding the right condo easier for our buyers and to provide them useful local info they can’t find easily anywhere else.
What real estate technology trend or product are your most excited about?
I like the fact the industry is slowly waking up to the reality that consumers are in charge, and we need to give consumers what they want or get crushed by those who will. I am hoping we continue moving towards national MLS options (instead of scores of local MLSs), which will allow for greater innovation that benefits the consumer.
What do you like about being a Geek Estate member?
First and foremost, I love the energy of the group! I enjoy being able to discuss the real estate industry with like-minded people, including people I have admired from afar that I now get to interact with directly. I get inspired and motivated daily discussing the latest real estate trends, especially tech-related, and sharing ideas on what the future might hold.
