Marketers: Please, Please Stop Using the Word “First”
Localism says they are “the first national neighborhood-level news site!”
I’m sorry, I’m calling bullshit.
Ever hear of Patch? Outside.in (see here and company history here)? Blockfeed?
Seriously marketers — you ruin all credibility (aka trust) by making outrageous claims you are the first to do something. 99.9% you’re lying, if you EVER use that word in your marketing copy. (using “only” in marketing copy is another pet peeve of mine)

Posted at 18:27h, 22 AugustLOL, you are right. And being first is not the most important thing, executing everything better is. Google and Facebook were not the first, they were just the best.

Posted at 09:13h, 23 AugustSee also NextDoor.com and Neighborhoodland. They are more message boards but they serve a similar purpose. NextDoor has seen an adoption and use rate that’s higher than others.
