In our latest real estate tech interview, I’m talking to Kristyn Roth from KoaWare, a property website builder for agents/brokers based in Orange County. We first spoke early last year and met her in San Francisco at Inman.
What do you do?
I’m Co-Founder and CMO at KoaWare, an easy-to-use, customizable website builder for real estate professionals. Our proprietary software aims to streamline content in a beautiful, modern way, while still offering robust functionality within our real estate marketing tool set. We offer a Property Website creation tool, Agent Website builder, and a Brokerage website platform. As with any startup, we all wear many hats! My job is to find the easiest and most appealing ways to deliver our message; I handle all marketing efforts, including brand building, business development, customer happiness, and more. All of us focus on product development, testing, and ensuring that it’s the most user-friendly experience available.
Why do you do what you do?
I am a marketing nerd. I love building brands from the ground up and creating something out of nothing. When Alex and I decided to focus full time on KoaWare, it was a thrilling/scary/exciting moment. We saw a need within the marketplace to streamline content from creation through utilization, in an easy-to-use singular platform. Agents were spending a lot of money on marketing content like listing photos, videos, 3d floor plans, etc, and yet it wasn’t making it to the digital world – where 90% of buyers are searching for homes! Our Property Website creation tool is perfect for Real Estate Service providers to upsell, and deliver a beautiful, functional website in 3 minutes or less.
Additionally, there is a common misconception that building an agent website takes a lot of time and money, but by the time that website is published it’s practically outdated. KoaWare aims to future-proof your website, by allowing users to adapt to digital trends in real time – no coding knowledge necessary.
What are you most excited about right now?
I’m excited to roll out our Agent Website Platform on a national and global scale. We’ve worked really hard to develop, test, innovate, and then develop some more within our website builder; we are available in select markets, and are ready to show it off. As with any technology, our focus is to continually innovate with new functionality, features, and design aesthetics as we grow.
What’s next for you?
While our Property Website platform is available to anyone, our Agent and Broker platforms have select availability due to MLS integrations. We’re working to expand to more markets, and have already built out waiting lists to prioritize demand. Until then, we do offer a Basic Agent Website that features all of our proprietary tools, for those markets without access to MLS data; this positions agents to build out their digital presence until they can switch to our MLS streamlined websites.
What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?
I serve as President and Board Member of The Roth Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that strives to empower and support youth and adults living with neurological, intellectual and physical challenges to defy expectations.
Last April, I also founded Make Waves, which began as a stand alone fundraising campaign, and is now a charitable fund part of the Roth Family Foundation.
