jay gierakIn our second “Meet the Real Estate Tech Entrepreneur” interview, we’re talking to Jay Gierak the co-founder of Stik.com; a service that allows you to share your reviews all over the web.

Without further adieu…

1) What do you do?

I am the co-founder of Stik. We help real estate agents collect & display reviews from their happiest past clients across the web.

2) Why do you do what you do?

When we started Stik we saw a big gap between the way people were making decisions in the offline world (via personal referrals) and in the online world (low-trust directories, lead forms). As Facebook and LinkedIn emerged as definitive sources for real people and real relationships, we saw the opportunity to bring authentic, trustworthy experiences to the web where it had never been done before. Every great real estate agent or mortgage broker deserves the chance to stand out online. We enable that opportunity, helping professionals and consumers connect in a meaningful, trustworthy way.

3) What are you most excited about right now?

Reviews have gone mainstream. Reviews drive purchasing decisions, and consumers are increasingly making more decisions online. 3 out of 4 consumers read online reviews before choosing a local professional. We have the opportunity to become that definitive trusted resources for the most important purchases consumers make in their lives. We are in a rare moment where consumer behavior is rapidly changing – it is exciting to be a part of it.

4) What’s next for you?

More reviews! We built this product to help local professionals grow their business online. To date we have collected more than 2.5MM recommendations and reviews for more than 200,000 local professionals, but there is plenty more work to do.

5) What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

Detroit is a great American city and my hometown. We moved our Company back here from San Francisco to be a part of its Renaissance. It’s a special town full of special people, and we want to see it sparkle like the diamond it is.
