Are you Building “for Consumers”?
Are you actually, TRULY, building your product for consumers, or is that just a facade you put up for the general public?
I’d argue virtually zero companies/products built in this industry are truly being built for consumers.
To do it? You need a fairly large stash of money in order to push monetization off into the distant future while still investing heavily into product and distribution – as well as an incredibly mission driven founder (remember: missionaries, not mercenaries) not in it for the payday.

Posted at 10:57h, 01 JulyNot sure I understand your point. When I design my website I always have the consumer in mind, not Realtors, not anyone else, just consumers. I would hope others are doing the same. Maybe an example would help, because I believe most companies feel they are building for consumers.

Posted at 11:00h, 01 JulyThis is more geared at startups, but the point rings across to agent/broker websites as well. Anyone who puts anything behind a registration wall, is not truly building for consumers. We all know that’s not what they want. They want all the information, without having to talk to an agent.

Posted at 11:09h, 01 JulyOK, great point, as most Real Estate websites force a registration.
For many years I did not have a registration, then the Board of Realtors told me in order to show all listings the user must first be registered with me, so they forced me to add a registration to see non-Active listings, but I would have preferred to have none.
