Can Your Smart Phone Find your Chicago Dream Home?
At this point, we’ve lost count of how many real estate apps exist for both the iPhone and Android platforms. They come with a wide variety of functionalities because, as we all know, different users have unique preferences when it comes to looks and usability. So here’s one real estate app that you may have missed. It has every feature you could hope to have handy during a house hunt and, best of all, it’s intuitively easy to use.
The Real Estate Book has been around for over 30 years and it’s made house-hunting a breeze for countless buyers. But knowing that digital reigns supreme, they released their first app earlier this year. It’s a continuously-updated, comprehensive real estate database that covers more than 460 markets throughout the U.S. and Canada and lets you custom-search for homes, wherever you are.
Opening the app brings users to an initial search page where they can define their parameters; they can search by MLS number, area radius, price range, number of bedrooms/bathrooms and property type. It’s an interesting range of property types, too: single-family home, land, condos, townhouse, building, mobile home, horse farm, farm and co-op—an interesting departure from existing app databases. A click of the “Search” button then lists relevant properties, which can be sorted by price or distance.
Once the user selects a property, the app’s best features appear. Basic information is listed for the property (number of rooms, price, square footage, etc), as well as a description and contact information for the listing agent. But users can also attach photos taken with their phone, enter notes about the property, mark as a favorite or email the listing. An instant “Call Agent” button dials out to the listing agent, or a user can select “Contact the Agent” to fill out a basic form and let the agent get back to them.
Of course the app is also connected to Google Maps, so a user can select the map link to get directions to any listed property.
Sounds cool. But really, what’s the benefit? This app lets users easily document and keep organized their thoughts and favorite features about any property they visit. If they walk into a house or condo and suddenly feel they’ve found “the one,” they can quickly go through existing favorites and instantly compare what they’re feeling right now with what they felt on-the-spot somewhere else.
Are there other apps like it? Sure! But one app (or a hundred) is never enough. Like we said before, different users look for different aesthetics, functionalities and tools. So this one is worth comparing to those you’ve already checked out.
And keep in mind, with real estate heating up across the nation and a plethora of Chicago homes to choose from, a variety of resources is helpful. And this app is sure to make things easier. Check out The Real Estate Book app for iPhone and Android phones – and may your hunt for home be simple, quick and successful.
How would you compare this to the Realtor.com, Trulia, and Zillow apps?
