Cool Technology on an Agent Website
I agree with Marc Davison — THIS intro on Darren James’ website is catchy! Additionally, once you get past the intro and into the actual site, there is some cool AJAX (I think) technology behind the scenes that gives the site a web 2.0 feel. When I clicked the “View Darren’s Listings” link (green button below his name), I was expecting some fancy AJAX to pull up listings automatically without refreshing the page — but instead, I was directed to this page. On the whole, I’ve got to give him credit for a great looking site nonetheless. Anyone know which tech vendor or individual designed and coded the website?
Also, if anyone else can point out other slick agent websites in the comments, I’d love to check them out to see how they compare.

Posted at 22:04h, 13 DecemberI might be wrong about this, but that Flash intro page, and the excessive Flash use in the index page might cost him dearly, SEO-wise. Of course, if he’s the only “game” in town, it won’t matter. Otherwise, a nice-looking modern agent site.

Posted at 02:26h, 14 DecemberI wouldn’t do it, as it seems distracting, but Google now index’s flash:

Posted at 10:24h, 14 DecemberThe page that displays his listings looks to be coded by the company that does his virtual tours. As for the rest of the site, I can’t say for sure.

Posted at 11:09h, 14 DecemberLooks to me like a lot of “Flash” but not to much content. Anyone take a look at his blog? Two month gaps and the last post was in October? Looks like he paid some big bucks and then forgot about it. Hope it was worth his money, because it doesn’t look like it was worth his time.

Posted at 09:28h, 17 DecemberWell, it’s certainly ‘flashy.’ No SEO to speak of, Louisiana is in the image, and the title, description tags say nothing about what area he serves. He’s not in the top 100 at Google for ‘baton rouge real estate’ and doing an info:www at Google shows that they have only the intro and site page indexed with zero content (as it’s all imbedded in the flash). It may appeal to humans, but it’s got zero effectiveness for SEO.
Flash is okay to use as long as you also have good, clean content that the spiders can get to and index!

Posted at 15:03h, 07 JanuaryI am the owner of the site, and am looking to make it more search engine friendly and customizable. Any suggestions on who can do it for me would be appreciated. The company who built it is charging $40/hr. to make ANY changes. They’ve been good thus far, but I want effectiveness, combined with a good look and content.
