Everyblock, and Reporters
You all know you should be building relationships with reporters as part of your blogging/marketing strategy. But what’s the best way to do that, and how do you get their attention? Yes, HARO is one source. Another resource to take a serious look at is Everyblock.com — a site I came across today as a result of the following Tweet by Peter Quinn Fuller in Chicago (which got retweeted by Adrian Holovaty (founder of Everyblock):
I asked Peter what types of things he posts on Everyblock, and he responded with this tweet:
@drewmeyers I just discuss the goings on in my neighborhood. I’ve been interviewed about crime, local charity and skunks!
We all know reporters are starved for local content to report on these days and have precious few resources at their disposal to find it. Everyblock, which goes down to the block level, is about as hyper local as it gets when it comes to data. As you can tell from the Tweet, reporters are looking for information on everything from crime to skunks — and everything in between.
So, at least, in Chicago — Everyblock seems to be a place where reporters hang out to find sources and stories. So, go explore your block (here’s the page for the block I used to live on in the Queen Anne neighborhood in Seattle), add to the discussion and add value…and wait for the reporters to contact you 🙂
Are any real estate agents or brokers utilizing Everyblock right now to gain exposure in your hyper local area? If so, leave a comment as to your successes and/or failures.

Posted at 14:51h, 22 SeptemberMy best friend grew up in Utah. But he had sense enough to move..
haha, but in all seriousness, I have nothing against Utah or anybody that lives there. I just wouldn’t want to live there.
