FancyBox, LightBox and Home Valuation Charts
As you all know, graphics adds glitter to any web site. I have shown in my previous post how you can use FusionCharts to create cool Mortgage Charts using the Zillow Mortgage API. In this post, I will show couple of free software you can use to light up your web site.
FancyBox
FancyBox is a tool for displaying images, html content and multi-media in a Mac-style “lightbox” that floats over top of web page. It is built using the jQuery library and is a Javascript based solution.
Download fancybox, view the examples and start using it now. Check out the slide show of Home Valuation Charts created using Zillow APIs and FancyBox. See how easy it is to integrate YouTube videos using FancyBox.

LightBox
Download lighbox code and follow the simple two step directions to add it to your web pages. You can also create slide shows as explained there. Even though easier to use, this is not as powerful as FancyBox. Check out my slide show of Home valuation charts created using Zillow APIs and LighBox.

1. How did you create that great Zillow chart slideshow? Any chance there’s a step-by-step for that? I’d like to use it for my own market on my blog.
2. Is there any advantage of having a YouTube run in a Fancybox as opposed to just having the video embedded in the post itself? Seems to me that it’s the same thing.
3. Same with the previous poster — would pop-up blockers prevent all the nice work of a Fancybox?
