It's All About Who Knows YOU
There is a great guest post from Ken Brand over at Productivity Junkies titled It’s not who you know. It’s who knows you. But not like you think. It’s a chapter from Ken’s new book: Less Blah Blah More Ah Ha. It talks about social and professional context — and whether those in your sphere think of you in a professional or social context when they think of you. Here’s an excerpt worth noting:
To earn invitations to list and sell and to receive plentiful referral recommendations, the people you know have to perceive you as a trustworthy and choosable real estate agent at least as much, and ideally more, than they perceive you as anything else. What I’m saying is, the context in which people perceive you is key.
Whether you like it or not, what others perceive about you is what matters at the end of the day — not how you want them to think about you.
If you are thinking about how to get the most possible business from your sphere, and even if that’s not at the top of your list, I urge you to go read the article.
