Market Yourself with Online Slideshows
I’ve been testing the waters with various tools to create online slideshows for my listings, but also as a way to enhance the visual appeal of my blog.
After a fair amount of searching, I settled on Slideshare.net. It’s very easy to use because you can just upload a power point presentation (PDF export from Apple Keynote for Mac users). If you’d like to add audio, simply point to the file on the net and use their online tool to match it up.
The very nice thing about online slide shows is that they can be emailed, embedded in a webpage or linked to. Slideshare, Blip.tv and others typically allow tagging, which can help with SEO.
Here are a few ideas on how you can use online slideshows in your real estate business:
- As a pre-listing tool – I uploaded my listing presentation so sellers can view it online. I haven’t included all of my “secret” tools, but it gives sellers a great overview of how I work. I plan to add audio soon. See the example.
- Introduce a new listing – Instead of just having pictures pan in and out, I created some slideshows at Blip.Tv and Slideshare. View it here.
- Provide market updates – Using Slideshare, I was able to create a simple slide show that discussed development in Downtown Austin. I’m also gearing up to add audio, which I think will help better explain the upcoming changes. See it here.
These are just a few ideas and I can post a “how to” if readers are interested.

You have a very nice looking blog. Did you code it yourself or is it a WYSIWYG?

Posted at 19:58h, 13 Septemberhow do you get the audio on slideshare? do you upload audio before or after you upload to slideshare?

Posted at 07:35h, 15 SeptemberScooot- I use TypePad.com for the blog (which is WYSIWYG). I have a web guy help me with the more “fancy” stuff and recently did an overhaul using a team from Elance.com
Sworlando- With Slideshare, you have to link to the audio on a server that is not theirs. You then have an interface where you just simply line up the markers of where the slides flip over. You just have to try it, it’s a little tricky getting used to it, but is very easy.
Title rep- I will do a how-to. I just want to work out the tweaks and try a bunch of different types of slideshows.
Thanks for the comments!

Posted at 21:04h, 06 JanuaryGoogle docs recently introduced Presentations into their family of online collaboration tools.
This tool is very impresive.
I was able to import a PowerPoint show, tweak it, embed it right into my webiste about us page and even into my blog post…
Now that is power.
Having worked in Real Estate Admin for a number of years got me thinking… Why not creat a new blog post for each property and embed the google presentation right into the post. You can categorize each one according to area of the City or something…

Posted at 21:06h, 06 JanuaryAs far as the audio, you could import that to the post as a podcast. Camtasia studio’s works good for this too.

Posted at 07:56h, 07 JanuaryGoogle docs is awesome. I’m playing with it now because I’d like to do my annual Austin market update. I thought about a podcast, but I didn’t want to mess with it. The online slideshow was pretty easy because you just upload the pdf or powerpoint and sync it up online.
The only problem is that their servers are slow at night. I’m going to play with the idea of a monthly audio podcast for my Austin market update. I go through all of the trouble anyway,so maybe a video podcast would be even more efficient.
