In our latest real estate tech interview, I’m talking to Dan Daugherty of rentbits.com. Without further adieu, here’s a bit more from his own mouth…

What do you do?

dandaughertyI am the CEO and founder of rentbits.com, a rental solutions company for the apartment and single family home rental industry. rentbits offers marketing, tracking, reputation management, resident retention, rental search and home automation services for property managers, residents, owners, REITs and real estate agents.

What are you most excited about right now?

I am most excited about the home automation space. There is a very large need, specifically in the rental industry to offer a home automation product that simplifies the lives of renters and rental professionals. We have reached a tipping point that is going to change the way the home interacts with residents. Our new product, remotely.com is the only home automation platform built specifically for the rental industry that enables renters to control their rental unit, pay rent and submit maintenance requests with their smart phone.

What’s next for you?

Personally, my immediate focus is to be home every night to give my daughter a bath and put her to bed. Professionally, we will continue to offer innovative products that makes life easier for renters and rental professionals.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

Since recently having our first child, I have noticed a tremendous amount of inefficiencies in products that are currently on the baby market. I have been giving a lot of thought into making some of these products better.
