In our latest real estate tech interview, I’m talking to Matt Ehrlichman, founder of Porch.

Without further adieu, here’s a bit more from his own mouth…

What do you do?

My Name is Matt Ehrlichman and I am founder and CEO of Porch – the home improvement network. With insights into 1.5 million professionals and their 100 million projects, Porch enables consumers to make smart home improvement decisions by connecting them with the right professionals.

Why do You Do What you Do?

I think I’m wired for entrepreneurship – It’s all I’ve ever done. I love the thrill of taking on big challenges with an amazing team and solving real problems for real people.

What are you most excited about right now?

Porch as a company – we’ve gone from 25 people at launch 9 months ago to more than 140 now. We’re growing explosively and we’re doing some really amazing things. I’m excited about Porch’s latest offering for the Real Estate space called the Porch Home Report. It’s a tool to help homeowners get exclusive research on homes they are considering purchasing. Using our data, we can provide home improvement project history, the cost and details of remodels and projects, background information for professionals that have previously worked on the home and neighborhood, and vital neighborhood statistics, such as how long neighbors have lived in their homes.

What’s next for you?

Right now I am 100% focused on building Porch to be great. I want to look back when I’m old and hang my hat on having done something really meaningful to change the world in some small way. Taking the pain away from home ownership and improvement would be something I’d be deeply proud of.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

Cause – Kids. My wife and I are passionate about helping children – we have a 3 year-old and 1 year-old, and it inspires us to participate in causes that can help kids that are in a tough spot and can use support.

Personal – I experienced first-hand the difficulty involved when trying to build my first home for my family. We’re a month away from completing this project and we’re excited to move in to our lifetime home.
