jim-inmanIn our latest Meet the Real Estate Tech Entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Jim Cronin of Real Estate Tomato. I’ve known Jim for 6+ years now, back from the heyday of the RE.net and Active Rain’s Project Blogger in 2007 (we both served as coaches). Here’s a bit more about him, from his own mouth…

1) What do you do?

We help real estate agents develop beautiful and effective websites. We then train them to use content creation (read: blogging) as an effective marketing strategy to gain new business.

2) Why do you do what you do?

I first started blogging as the Real Estate Tomato in 2006 because I needed a place to post my ideas about marketing (as a real estate agent) online. I quickly garnered a national audience that was not only interested in my advice, but they were wondering if I could help them employ a similar strategy (blogging) to help them be found online. I haven’t left my desk since =)

3) What are you most excited about right now?

Two things:

  1. Finally redesigning our own site. I feel like the maid with the messy home. We spend so much of our focus designing, developing and training our clients that we’ve neglected our own online home. We are putting the final touches on the look and should make the big switch by next month (July).
  2. Offering a really useful and effective mobile experience for our clients’ websites. I have been less than thrilled with all the solutions I have seen in the marketplace so far (iphone apps, responsive designs, mini-mobile websites). I feel the approach we are about to unveil will be the solution that our clients are looking for. It all comes down to one thing: what are your visitors looking for and how can we best present it to them? I’m confident we have this solved – Stay tuned!

4) What’s next for you?

Over the years our hosting demands (space, speed, security, knowledge) have grown exponentially. As we approach 1000 hosted databases it is becoming clear to us that we should expand our services beyond our real estate base. So although we will continue to focus our design and training efforts on the real estate industry, expect to see us moving into a larger arena where we host and service all sorts of WordPress websites.

5) What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

act4me.org – a non profit organization established in Miami, by volunteers dedicated to distribute financial assistance to local families, whose children suffer developmental delays due to a neurological disorders. Treatments, rehabilitation and care for these beautiful children can be very expensive, and Act4Me helps local families supplement or completely cover these expenses.
