Meet the Real Estate Tech Entrepreneur: Justin Alanis
In our latest Meet the Real Estate Tech Entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Justin Alanis of Rentlytics. He and I spoke recently, and they are well on their way toward coming out of Beta with their offering.
Here’s a bit more about him, from his own mouth…
What do you do?
I run a venture backed startup called Rentlytics. My team and I have developed what we call Apartment Intelligence, a platform that helps multifamily property ownership and management companies gain greater insight into their data across their portfolio of assets.
Why do you do what you do?
I come from the apartment investment world, and when I was running my portfolio, my worst pain point was trying to understand my data. I had no insight into trends or any ability to slice and dice my data effectively.
Also, most firms don’t have the time or money to invest in a business intelligence solution. Plus, those tools really fail to meet the needs of our specific client base.
So, my co-founder Phil and I decided to develop a SaaS offering that was easy to implement, easy to adopt, and easy to use while still being the most effective way to analyze apartment KPI’s and drive really important decisions across an entire organization.
What are you most excited about right now?
Starting to see actual results from actual customers! We launched to our private beta customer set, and we are starting to see amazing results and use cases already. We are constantly thinking about new features that we can develop to further enhance ROI to our customers while continuing to drive user engagement. We have some really great things on the horizon that I think are going to set a new standard for technology in the multifamily industry.
What’s next for you?
Refining the product. We are so laser focused on creating the best possible product right now, but it is so hard not to look into the future and think about what will be. But we have our blinders on right now. We are heads down, cranking out awesome features. We are loading the cannon and getting ready to fire.
What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?
I am a big fan of the Best Buddies organization. For those who don’t know of it, Best Buddies is an organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While in college, I was a “Best Buddy” to a wonderful person, Lucas, who had intellectual disabilities. I have since been a volunteer at several of their national events. It’s truly a great cause where I have seen, first hand, the tremendous benefits.
