In our latest real estate tech interview, I’m talking to Ameeta Jain, founder of HomeSelfe.

The home is the most valuable investment/asset that most people have, and I always like learning more about startups working to help home owners save money while simultaneously decreasing the environmental impact they’re having.

1. What do you do?

I am the Co-Founder and Spokesperson for HomeSelfe. HomeSelfe is the leading DIY home energy saving app, helping homeowners reduce their utility bills, energy consumption and environmental impact.  It’s a fun, easy and free app that provides a clear path to an energy efficient home with a personalized money saving plan, available rebates, and access to local qualified contractors. Founded in 2014, HomeSelfe was created as a patent pending technology by Energy Datametrics, one the leading providers of cutting-edge energy efficiency software and technology services for 155 utility companies reaching 9 million consumers.

2. Why do you do what you do?

I want every child to have every chance at a good start so helping families is one way I can help. If there is a way that we can improve the lives of our family, friends, neighbors, then we should try. HomeSelfe helps families save money which in turn helps them meet other financial needs or goals. Through HomeSelfe, homeowners across America are reducing their carbon footprint and truly having a positive impact on our environment ensuring our children will have a healthy planet.

3. What are you most excited about right now?

So many things come to mind, but probably the most exciting news is HomeSelfe was recognized by NAR and selected as a 2016 REach® Company. Having access to over 1 million REALTORS ® , influential industry leaders, and invaluable resources provides us with a unique platform to amplify our growth and make HomeSelfe a household name!

4. What’s next for you?

I am excited to get entrenched into the world of real estate as a 2016 REach® Company. One of our goals for Homeselfe is making a difference in the energy consumption of every household across America. Energy efficiency is in fashion! Through this vertical we can reach every home across the United States making energy efficiency easy, understandable and not as overwhelming to achieve as some might believe. Through energy efficiency we can make homes more comfortable and improve quality of life.

5. What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

I’m passionate about our children, their families and the environment. I want to help ensure our children stay safe and help parents protect their children and that’s why I co-founded TeenSafe in 2011. HomeSelfe also helps families. With all the technological advances we are making, the demand for energy is only increasing and affecting families across the United States. By helping individuals learn how to become more energy efficient, save money on their utility bills giving them more buying power and reducing their carbon footprint, we’re making a meaningful impact.
