Being the fact that this is a technology blog focused on real estate, it seems fitting that we should cover an actual physical piece of (proposed) real estate focused on technology.

The Vegas Tech House in Las Vegas.

Who is behind it? None other than my friend Jon Sterling, who is certainly no stranger to the real estate industry. A Keller Williams broker for many years, worked at Altos Research for awhile, and has now moved on to co-found AgentFindr.com. Beyond that, he decided to undertake building a Tech House in Vegas after moving there earlier this year — largely due to the young technology scene being built in Vegas (to the tune of a $350 million from Tony Hsieh) and the affordable cost of living.

From the IndiGoGo page:

What are we doing?

We are raising money to buy a house in Las Vegas. The house will serve as a hub for artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, and others in the downtown Las Vegas community. It will be a co-working and co-creating space during the day, and a venue for small and medium-sized events in the evenings.

Who is leading the efforts?

That’s me. My name is Jon Sterling and I moved to Las Vegas from San Francisco to build my business here. I have spent most of my career in real estate-related businesses and will be managing the purchase of the house and the ongoing property management.

What happens if we don’t reach our goal?

All the perks will still be honored, regardless of the final outcome of the campaign. We could rent a house for a few years. Or we could use the money as a down payment.  A few investors have said they would cover any shortfall, so “not reaching the goal of buying a house” is not one of the possible outcomes.

Where does the money go?

The money will be used to buy a house, make any necessary repairs to make it livable, and purchase any necessary furniture and appliances. We will also reserve some money for ongoing household maintenance, utilities, and supplies.

Other Ways You Can Help

If a financial contribution isn’t an option, you can still help us by spreading the word about the campaign. Share it on Facebook, tweet about it, or email it to a friend who might be interested. This is a hefty goal and we can use all the help we can get!
