The Origins of Influential Real Estate Blogs
Being immersed in the real estate blogosphere and starting to follow all the great blogs out there has made me wonder when these blogs came to fruition. When did influential RE.net blogs — even this very one I’m posting on — get their start? When I saw Ines’ tweet the other day, it prompted me to follow through with my curiosity. Here’s an attempt to organize some of that information in a nice, interactive, timeline (I used Dipity.com):
Scroll through it and check out a piece of the history of real estate blogging. Also, if you click through on most of the small pop up modules, you can see the very first posts from that blog! Who knew Inesβ first blog post looked like this? It’s a nice blast from the past.
If there is a blog that I missed, leave a comment with a link to the first post on that blog and I’ll do my best to update the timeline in a timely manner.

Posted at 18:55h, 28 AugustI love that you love picking on me – and I am so glad you did this (helps to put things into perspective) – now don't think I started blogging on Feb of 2006 – I just wrote those few lines not even knowing what a blog was (the “Blogger” choice should be enough of a hint) – I would say my real start was Sept of 2006 in Active Rain and those posts are beyond embarrassing (probably enough cue for you to go look) π

Posted at 20:05h, 28 AugustExcellent post! I love timelines & its fascinating to witness the development of the real estate industry on the web. I am going to be slightly narcissistic and ask you to add my real estate blawg to the timeline – here is the link to my first post: http://realestatelaw.typepad.com/where_is_black…

Posted at 21:58h, 28 AugustAjay,
I always wondered how my first post was so meaty, given I thought I was just beta testing someone's blog software on New Year's Day, and didn't realize anyone would ever be able to actually see it π
Loving “the lineup” of ARDELL, Sellsius, Zillow and Redfin π That was a powerful 36 day period in history.

Posted at 07:29h, 29 AugustCool timeline. If you're also interested in MLS blogs for the timeline, the first substantive FBS Blog post was March 8, 2007. http://blog.flexmls.com/?p=22

Posted at 09:32h, 29 AugustI may not belong on the “influential” (A) list, but it is fun to look back at how far we have come.
I got my start on Jan 14, 2005.

At the time I thought blogger was the only place you could blog. π
My unfortunate site name was http://www.leavenworthwashingtonrealestate.blogspot.com
Which eventually turned into http://www.myLeavenworth.com
Years later I finally made the transition to WP.
Thanks to all of the re.net who have joined me in my journey – it's been fun growing and evolving together over the years.
