WeChat: A Glimpse into the China Tech Ecosystem
If you are a founder in the real estate vertical, trying to figure out where this industry is headed over the next decade — I highly suggest you read this analysis of WeChat by Connie Chan on a16z.
WeChat is of course a messaging app with a massive massive user base in China. But it isn’t just a messaging app – it’s basically everything inside one app. Hail a taxi. Order food. Find a book. Donate to charity. Read celebrity news. etc. As you know, in the United States, apps have largely focused on single use cases rather than platform models such as WeChat that reside under one brand.
What do you think the future of apps in real estate holds – constellations, or all in one platforms? How long until the whole entire home owner lifecycle is brought together under a single app? Who will do it? Zillow, or a startup such as HomeZada (read this)?
