I know this is insanely last minute, especially given this is a holiday weekend — but I wanted to share an event called Unlikely Allies next week (July 5 and 6) being hosted by Impact Hub Seattle (a co-working network I belong to): Unlikely Allies is a two day festival that takes place in a new city each year bringing together global and local thought leaders, changemakers, inspired citizens and their unlikely allies: the hackers, artists, policy makers, activists, corporate innovators and designers needed to make … Read More »

I had the pleasure of attending the MetaProp NYC demo day last week on my trip to New York City. My take-aways from the event were several fold: The community MetaProp has built in one year is impressive. I’d say they got 100 people there at 9 am on a Tuesday. That’s hard to do, particularly in NYC. The venue they secured for the day was superb (aka spectacular). 7 World Trade Center, 10th floor. Very impressive presentations as a whole by their 5 initial participants – Rentalutions, Radiator Labs, SocialSign.in, Notion, and Optii … Read More »

Last week was spent at Inman Connect in NYC. The primary reason for the trip was meeting with potential enterprise partners for the recently redesigned StreetAdvisor.com. The other part of my time there was spent helping my dear friends at Giveback Homes with their Startup Alley booth. It was great to spend time with Caroline Pinal (see below photo), and speak to brokers and agents about the great benefits Giveback Homes provides its members. As you no doubt know from reading this blog, I’m a huge, huge … Read More »

The NAR Board Of Directors voted today on long list of issues from the use of drones to take property photos and member codes of excellence to rules that require MLS boards to expand the data they provide for use on broker and agent sites through current IDX (internet data exchange rules). The idea is to improve the competitive standing they have against 3rd party aggregators. Among the more notable changes: MLS must provide listing data updates every 12 hours, down from 3 days. Data can be co-mingled from … Read More »
