“Key for Key”

by Drew Meyers on 11:44 am April 24, 2017

I’m incredibly pleased that Concierge Auctions and Giveback Homes decided to work together on the “Key for Key” campaign. …Key for Key™, guarantees that a new home will be built for a family in need for every property that we sell this year. Our initial commitment will equate to over 100 homes through the balance of this year. Many of these projects will be concentrated in Nicaragua, where the need for safe housing is critical. While this is not “new” news (was announced April 6th), it’s still … Read More »

The Giving Back in Real Estate Discussion

by Drew Meyers on 9:00 am August 16, 2016

If you read this blog, and don’t know I’m passionate about giving back — well, you’re not really reading. While in San Francisco at Inman Connect, I attended the “Finding a Cause that Aligns With Your Brand” panel that included good friends Caroline (Giveback Homes) and Greg Fischer (Bend Station), along with Matt Beall at Hawaii Life and Gloria Castellanos at the Agency. In all seriousness, why hasn’t giving taken off? Why does it remain on the edges of industry conversation, rather than front and center? A few … Read More »

Giveback Homes + ReferralExchange = A Lot of Good Vibes

by Drew Meyers on 6:00 pm July 29, 2016

Am I a broken record yet about what a huge fan of Giveback Homes I am?I can’t speak highly enough of Blake and Caroline at Giveback Homes. I’ll keep beating the drum… This week, they announced a new partnership with ReferralExchange: current Giveback Homes member agents will receive a ReferralExchange submit license. ReferralExchange will also donate $100 for every closed agent-to-agent referral, up to $20,000. The goal is to raise enough money to host the build day in Sacramento and build 3 houses internationally. ReferralExchange … Read More »

World Housing, and a Podcast with Graham Brewster

by Drew Meyers on 8:00 am June 5, 2016

Did you know more than a billion people in the world live in slums like this… I don’t know about you, but I believe that’s a problem worth addressing. Along with Giveback Homes and New Story, there’s another organization focused on the intersection of housing and social good. World Housing based in Vancouver BC. The organization applies the Toms Shoes one-for-one model to real estate. When you buy a condo, a home is built for a family in the developing world. I listened to the … Read More »

Interview with New Story Co-Founder Alexandria Lafci on the Social Entrepreneur Podcast

by Drew Meyers on 9:52 pm June 4, 2016

I’ve written about New Story before, and had the chance to meet Alexandria and Brett in New York in January. Alexandria was recently interviewed on the Social Entrepreneur podcast (which I’ve been listening to religiously since I was on it). Listen away…

Seattle…Come On. Giveback with Giveback Homes.

by Drew Meyers on 10:16 pm May 31, 2016

There are only 4 real estate professionals who are members of Giveback Homes in Seattle. What’s up with that? For such a socially conscious city home to organizations such as Gates Foundation, Global Partnerships, and Fred Hutch — I’m disappointed. I wanted to give huge props to the current members here in the Seattle area: Stephanie Kristen at Windermere Real Estate Phil Greely at Windermere Real Estate Gael Goodwin at Foundry. Living Real Estate Brian Losh at Ewing and Clark The rest of Seattle (Windermere, Coldwell Banker Bain, John L Scott…) — … Read More »

Q&A With Robin Leigh of Certified Charitable Giving Alliance

by Drew Meyers on 8:00 am February 5, 2016

Another company I spoke with while in New York last week at Inman Connect’s Startup Alley was the Certified Charitable Giving Alliance (CCG Alliance). I spoke with co-founder and CEO, Robin Leigh, for a few minutes and learned a bit about her mission and organization. Since it’s not exactly a secret I’m a fan of anything in the social good space (see this), I asked her to answer a few questions and she obliged. Her answers are below… What do you do? The CCG Alliance™ creates and … Read More »

GiveBack Homes at Inman Connect

by Drew Meyers on 8:45 am January 22, 2016

It’s no secret I’m a fan of Giveback Homes, as I’ve written about their organization numerous times. One of their co-founders, Caroline Pinal, will be speaking on stage on Thursday at Inman Connect, so don’t miss it if you’re attending the conference. There are a number of other Giveback Homes members speaking throughout the week as well, all of whom you can find here. I’ll be helping Caroline at their Vendor Alley booth off and on throughout the conference, so please do stop by and say hi. Look forward … Read More »
