1st Website Participant for Geek Build 2012 – Daniel Bacon
My name is Daniel Bacon and I have been working in residential real estate with my wife Christine for about nine years now. Prior to real estate I spent five years in the tech industry as a software engineer, db programmer and web developer. In between the career change I spent some time developing custom websites for agents and brokers.
My first six years in real estate were spent in the Washington, D.C. suburbs of northern VA, and at the start of 2009 we relocated to the barrier islands of Pinellas County, FL. We concentrate on waterfront and luxury property in the St. Petersburg – Clearwater area, specifically the barrier island beaches, and downtown/northeast St. Petersburg.
I heard about WordPress shortly after our relocation to Florida and began building www.BaconRealtyGroup.
For this project I will build a brand new site independent of www.BaconRealtyGroup.com. Rather than cover eight zip-codes and fourteen distinct towns/areas as we are now, the new site will focus on one zip-code – Clearwater Beach and Clearwater Sand Key. This is a fiercely competitive, lucrative market of luxury, waterfront home and condo developments, and I very much want to improve our market penetration in that area.
Let me end by saying that I am really excited about this project and look forward to working with the Geek Estate community to build some killer sites!
Summary:
- Redesign or New: New
- Geographic Focus: Clearwater Beach and Clearwater Sand Key
Note from the Editor: Not sure what Geek Build 2012 is? It’s building a few real estate websites from scratch publicly with the help of the Geek Estate Community and overseen by an experienced steering committee. Posted at 14:22h, 15 FebruaryHi Daniel,
Just a quick comment on your conversion on your current main site… you currently have “Get Free Email Updates” on your signup form which is going to drag your conversion way, way down. You’ve got to switch it to something like “Free Report: Best Areas to Buy in 2012” or something along those lines. Put together a quick PDF with the info you promise and include a free subscription to your newsletter as a bonus and you should see improved signup rates. Awesome that you are participating in the new site project!
