After a bit of a delay we are moving forward with development of our custom child theme for the Genesis Framework. We did have some trouble finding a developer for the project. Apparently it’s a great time to be a WordPress / Genesis / PHP developer, because after approaching more than ten individuals and companies we only received one actual quote.

As a reminder, we are basing the theme on the final design below. We will be able to customize all elements of the design including images, fonts, colors, and even what rows to display below the main search area. We will integrate Real Geeks IDX with our theme for each individual site, and then do additional design work on each.

If you are interested in building a Geek Build site we are opening up the project to three new participants. The total cost will be a fraction of what a custom site would cost, and you could have your site up and running as soon as six weeks from now. To join the project you should have sufficient technical skills to set up WordPress and work with the design environment, or be willing to pay someone to do it for you. You should also be prepared to develop initial content for the site – see Drew’s content checklist for new real estate websites.

If you are interested in joining the project email danb at baconrealtygroup dot com with details of your proposed project and any questions you have.

Note from the Editor: Not sure what Geek Build 2012 is? It’s building a few real estate websites from scratch publicly with the help of the Geek Estate Community and overseen by an experienced steering committeeRead more about Geek Build 2012 here, or view all posts related to Geek Build 2012 here.
