Meet the Real Estate Tech Founder: Mark Choey from Highnote
In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Mark Choey from Highnote.
Without further ado…
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Mark Choey, a San Francisco-based real estate tech entrepreneur and founder of Highnote (highnote.io), a cutting-edge presentation and proposal platform for sales and marketing professionals. I’m currently focused on building a sales platform for the real estate industry: agents, teams, brokerages. I’m technical by education (Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and two patents) and became a real estate professional because I saw so many inefficiencies that could be solved with technology.
As a real estate professional, I was the #2 condo salesperson in San Francisco by using a unique blend of sales expertise, leadership experience, and my technical background. I then co-founded Climb Real Estate in 2010, growing it to a top independent brokerage, and eventually leading it to an acquisition by Realogy in 2016. Beyond the tech world, I’m a dedicated father of two, a traveler, and an avid skier and golfer.
What problem does your product/service solve?
The real estate industry needs help. Brokerages, teams, and agents have a very busy life and very few tools that can adequately help with their every day selling, and client services needs. Highnote solves several key problems for the real estate industry and busy real estate agents. It provides a platform that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of communication for agents. This allows agents to better manage their relationships, reputation, and branding without relying on traditional, less efficient methods of marketing and client interaction. We also offer personalized support and resources, Highnote ensures that agents can maximize the utility of the platform, streamlining processes and helping them to win more leads and business opportunities with ease. Of course this problem doesn’t just exist in the real estate industry. Highnote also helps other industries with “high-touch” sales processes such as lending, title, financial services, solar sales, software sales and recruiting among others.
What’s are you most excited about right now?
Right now, I’m most excited about the dynamic changes happening in the real estate industry. The fact that many agents, teams, and brokerages are still unaware of Highnote presents a tremendous opportunity for growth and impact. Additionally, the potential to assist buyer agents and leverage AI to enhance Highnote’s offerings is exciting. Beyond real estate, I see vast possibilities for applying Highnote’s tools in various sales industries and other fields like software sales, recruiting, broadening our scope and influence significantly.
What’s next for you?
Looking ahead, I’m enthusiastic about the path Highnote is on. Our focus remains on continuous innovation, not just for the sake of advancement, but to genuinely enhance the day-to-day experiences of our users primarily in the real estate sector. We’re diving deep into understanding and addressing the evolving challenges faced by our clients. Our approach is about more than just providing a service; it’s about enriching the professional lives of those we serve. One of the main areas is by providing a service arm for busy real estate professionals to come to to help customize and personalize winning presentations from our experience. Although we have made Highnote simple to use, agents are super busy and don’t always have the time to build their own presentations. As we evolve, our aim is to broaden our reach, exploring new industries where Highnote’s capabilities can make a significant difference, always with an eye on reducing stress and boosting efficiency for professionals across the board.
What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?
I’m particularly concerned about the issue of plastic waste, especially the recycling and repurposing of packaging materials. In our consumer-driven society, the amount of plastic waste generated is staggering, and its impact on the environment is profound. This concern is deeply personal to me. I advocate for more sustainable packaging solutions and support initiatives that promote the recycling of plastics into new products. This effort not only reduces environmental harm but also encourages innovation in creating eco-friendly materials and practices. Innovative approaches like RePack’s reusable packaging model are crucial in this endeavor, offering practical and sustainable alternatives and I’m always looking out for such solutions to help support and promote.
