In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Tom Rossiter from RESAAS.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Tom Rossiter and I am the CEO of RESAAS, the world’s largest real estate technology platform. Prior to that, I worked at a digital marketing agency servicing some of the world’s most popular brands like Nike, Nintendo, Samsung and Nokia.

In 2007, I left the UK for Vancouver, Canada and found myself in a brand new city with very few connections. When I started to build my network, I was naturally drawn to the friendly and social real estate industry. After spending time at various networking events, it was clear that real estate professionals value their network, and building connections is vital to success. That’s when I decided to build RESAAS. Today we connect 500,000 agents in the US and worldwide.

What problem does your product/service solve?

RESAAS is a software platform that provides technology for major real estate organizations with the goal to bring real-time communication, transactions and data to their agents on a global basis.

When COVID-19 changed the landscape of the real estate industry, I knew that we needed to adjust and provide whatever support we could to our clients to help keep them safe while still operating their business. RESAAS embedded digital platforms (DocuSign, BoxBrownie), virtual tours (Matterport) and video (YouTube Live, Facebook Live) within our platform. With safety being the largest hurdle to overcome, RESAAS also secured the exclusive license to distribute the next generation of COVID-19 rapid tests to real estate agents worldwide.

What are you most excited about now?

Right now, I am focused on the safety of our clients and their agents, which is why I am so excited about our RESAAS COVID-19 rapid tests. With results in 8-minutes, this will enable the real estate industry to operate and allow agents to return to face-to-face business while keeping those around them safe. As a father myself, I empathize with working parents and their need to work while also keeping their family safe.

Networking and education are both very important too, and I am very happy to have partnered with one of the top sales coaches in the United States, Grant Cardone, author of the 10X Rule, to launch an 8-week mentorship program. I am very proud of this initiative because I believe that one of the keys to success in any industry is to continue to learn new things. The real estate industry is always changing, especially in the digital landscape, and I want our clients to be able to adapt especially during these unprecedented times.

What’s next for you?

COVID-19 has me on my toes! With safety within the real estate industry being my main priority, I will continue to work with our team to develop new technology to elevate our clients’ performance.

We will continue to focus on uniting the real estate industry during these unprecedented times by building relationships with brokerages and agencies around the world. Most recently we announced a strategic partnership with Mitsui Fudosan Realty, a luxury real estate developer in Japan.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

When I first moved from the UK to Canada in 2007, it became clear to me how important community was. That is something I still hold close to my heart, which is why I donate my time to the Salvation Army. Vancouver, Canada is a beautiful city, however, we have a large vulnerable population. Having immigrated to a new country, I can relate to that feeling of loneliness which is why I think it’s so important to lend a helping hand and give back when you can. Whether it’s working at the soup kitchen, donating to a good cause or simply saying “good morning” to someone who looks like they’re struggling, I always try to treat everyone with kindness because it could change their whole day.

My passion for community is embedded in RESAAS. We donate our time to various soup kitchens during the holidays and donate to the REALTORS® Care Foundation which works with housing and shelter-related charities.
