Real Estate Marketing is Not a Single Strategy Industry
You can succeed by blogging 5 times per week. Or not.
You can succeed by video blogging once per week. Or not.
You can succeed by spending money on Zillow. Or not.
You can succeed by syndicating your listings to all corners of the web. Or not.
You can succeed without a website. Or not.
You can succeed by tweeting 20 times per day. Or not.
You can succeed by spending 5 hours a day on Q&A sites like Quora and Linkedin. Or not.
You can succeed by spending 6 hours a day on the phone working your sphere. Or not.
My point is real estate is not a single strategy vertical. You need to do what works for YOU and YOUR BUSINESS. Not just blindly follow what works for agent X. Or agent ZY. Or agent Q. Yes, watch and learn from them — but adapt that to your strengths and weaknesses to form your own unique strategy. Remember, the only unique thing you have is YOU.
At the end of the day, the important thing is to have a strategy and execute against it.
Oh yea, one last thing — don’t be lazy.

Some activities are way more productive than others. Spending 6 hours a day on the phone working your sphere..would be the most productive on your list.

“”Spending 6 hours a day on the phone working your sphere..would be the most productive on your list””
If you can through the right way.

Great post, Drew! I love it! I guess what makes some Real Estate pros sing: “I am stranded in the middle of nowhere!” on social media is that they don’t have a very specific niche market in mind. Once they do, all the stressful questions such as what topics to blog about and which social networks I should use will be automatically answered and the answer is simple: Write the topics that YOUR target market want to read and choose social networks that your target market prefer.
“The only unique thing is you have is YOU” is a great point that every Realtor needs understand and communicate to his prospects. Why would I choose to do business with YOU? What’s your unique value proposition? These are the questions Realtors need to answer in order to succeed on social media. I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for the great post, Drew.

Great post. It definitely drives it home that there’s more than one way to succeed in this business. I try to do fewer things well than many things mediocre.

As do I..but I’m still spread too thin right now. Focus is key to success.

Totally agree with you. You are a great inspiration for me and many starters in real estate business. A single strategy business plan is a core reason for many failed stories i know.
