A Look at The Questions I Hear Repeated
Readers of Geek Estate range from tech savvy agents to technology vendors to aspiring entrepreneurs. I thought I’d share the questions that seem to resurface again and again in my conversations…
With entrepreneurs/founders:
- Can you cover our upcoming news on Geek Estate? Can you write about our startup?
- How do we get distribution for our product?
- Some iteration of “is product / business X a good idea?“
- Can you introduce me to person/company X, Y, Z, etc?
With agents/brokers:
- What is the best IDX and/or website vendor?
- How do I generate more leads?
- How do I improve my SEO?
- How should I think about mobile? Should I be doing anything?
- Are Zestimates accurate? (yes, more than 6 years after I departed Zillow, I still get this question)

Posted at 11:35h, 07 SeptemberI have been doing a lot of advertising on Facebook and am finding it difficult to get some questions answered. One of the challenges I am finding is many Realtors use landing pages to capture info or are just going for Likes and Shared, while I am just going for Website clicks. This makes it difficult to compare their ads results to mine.
Some of my questions are:
What is a good CPC to my website?
What is a good result rate?
How long should I run a Just Listed ad?
How does video compare to the ad carousel format?
What things can I put in my ad to increase the number of clicks?
Has anyone had great results using Facebook Canvas for their ads?
Does it makes sense to run some type of give away ad?
Are most Facebook clicks to a website from a real person?
Other questions:
How can I get real testing and feedback on my website vs. superficial scanning?
What things should I study in Hotjar to improve my website? I used it a bit and made some huge improvements, but am not sure how to continue with it.
Is anyone finding success with https://www.intercom.com?

We’ve thought about using intercom for Horizon, though haven’t decided/tested it. I’ve heard a bit mixed feedback from other clients of theirs.
