What Are the Best Ways for a Realtor to Advertise in 2011?
Most of the posts on this blog center around blogging, WordPress websites, IDX plugins, social media, iPhone apps, and other “real estate tech” tools. But we don’t spend much time talking about online advertising, which, if you have a website that converts traffic to contacts at a high percentage, is absolutely a viable option to grow your business. I picked up on a question from Zillow Advice that I wanted to repost here in the hopes of starting a discussion. The question is as follows and comes from Kamil Andrukiewicz in Farmington, CT:
I have some money in my budget set aside for Marketing, I am wondering what agents have the most luck with, newspapers, online…..?
I’ll throw this thought out there — I’m guessing the newspaper is not working. What are your experiences? What’s working for you in the way of paid advertising? What’s not working? Are you spending any money on marketing?
Update 2/2/2011: Speaking of online advertising, the launch of the Zillow-Yahoo! Real Estate Network is pretty big news. Further Geek Estate coverage here.

Posted at 18:27h, 02 FebruaryWe have been most successful in our WordPress blog web page with integrated IDX. Very popular option which has been highlighted here many times but it is very effective. Our lead generation is 5x what it used to be before we did this. Looking to implement this strategy with new local areas and markets soon.

Posted at 20:48h, 02 FebruaryThe best thing to do is become as active as possible online. Start a blog, join real estate based Facebook and LinkedIn groups, start a dialogue with people who are looking for homes, etc. Remember not to be discouraged if you don’t see immediate results. Keep at it and I’m sure you’ll find it will make a significant difference for you.
