Today marked the release of WordPress 3.1. New features include:

  • Redesigned linking workflow – this makes cross linking to old content MUCH easier than it used to be
  • A new admin bar
  • Post Formats support which allow for different styling for different types of posts
  • New Network Admin – I must say this feature is awesome for those using multisite
  • Overhaul of the import and export system, and the ability to perform advanced taxonomy and custom fields queries.
  • And more…

Feel free to upgrade your blogs today, but since it was just released today, I’d recommend backing things up prior to upgrading in case one of your plugins isn’t compatible with WordPress 3.1 and crashes your site. If you want to stay on the safe side, hold off a few days before pushing that automatic update button!
