WordPress.com Or WordPress.org?
WordPress.com websites are free, much easier to setup and has secured login (SSL). This provides limited control when coming to theme selection, installing plugins or widgets. The lack of capability to embed custom code is one common complaint I hear from realtors as evident from this Zillow discussion.
On the other hand, WordPress.org will cost you. You need to install and maintain the software yourself. At the same time this provides you maximum control if you have the technical capability. Here are more details on the differences.
In my opinion, there is no reason for a commercial website to run on WordPress.com. I will be interested in hearing from the readers. What do you think?

Or pay your website provider to do this. Some real estate pros are geeky (like many of the ones reading this blog) — but the vast majority are not. The ROI of being your own webmaster is likely not worth it for most re pros who just want to deal with clients and sell real estate.

Posted at 07:08h, 31 JanuaryGo with WordPress.org – U can control your Design, SEO, traffic, redirects – everything. Why give the traffic to someone else – invest in your business and build your visibility. IMO its worth it even if you hire out for a custom build.

Posted at 03:20h, 05 FebruaryBased on the complaints from real estate pros on Zillow forum about their inability to setup Zillow widgets on wordpress blog, it is clear that lot of them are still hosting on wordpress.com! For someone considering $20 per month as expensive for monthly hosting fee, I can only assume that FREE still sells?
