In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Shannon Bloemker from Energy Raven.

Without further ado…

Who are you and what do you do?

Shannon Bloemker, Founder & CEO of Energy Raven.

What problem does your product/service solve?

Homebuying is a stressful and busy time. There are mountains of paperwork to wade through
and lots of emotion and stress. Home inspections today look at the home’s structure but not the
systems that power it. We did a survey and found that 85% of homebuyers want to know about
the home’s energy costs. With energy prices rising and the Inflation Reduction Act in place with
over $9B available for home energy upgrades, we saw an opportunity to provide homebuyers with the information they seek. Energy Raven is an AI-powered energy analysis exclusively tailored for homebuyers and delivered through top-tier home inspection firms. Integrated seamlessly into routine home inspections, Energy Raven provides property-specific insights to empower homeowners to make informed decisions about energy efficiency.

Utilizing data, analytics, and AI, Energy Raven offers a roadmap for homeowners looking to:

  1. Reduce energy bills
  2. Positively impact the environment
  3. Access free money to offset energy upgrades

What’s are you most excited about right now?

We’re excited by the traction Energy Raven is getting among homebuyers, realtors and home inspectors. It’s been the missing yet vital piece of information about the home.

What’s next for you?

We launched in January from American Family Insurance, where we were created as an internal corporate innovation project. We’ve completed a pilot in partnership with California’s largest home inspection group and are now expanding nationwide.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

My family and I have been avid supporters of Meals on Wheels for many years. I sit on the board of Meals on Wheels of San Francisco, which supplies meals to more than 3,000 homebound seniors. What we love most about the organization is that its daily delivery of nutritious meals also allows our drivers to check in on the seniors—a valuable human touchpoint in their day.
