Global Women in PropTech Industry Group Launches with Inaugural Real Estate Technology Summit in NYC
200+ industry leaders will convene Oct. 18 to discuss transformative technologies aimed at achieving well-being and sustainability goals for the built environment
(August 20, 2019) NEW YORK — Women in PropTech, the leading global industry group for women in real estate technology, today announced its formation and its inaugural Women in PropTech Summit. The Summit will be a half-day event, taking place on October 18 in Manhattan, and will explore real-world applications of data, sensors and transformative technologies being used to achieve a sustainable built environment.
Women in PropTech’s platform is built to inspire the success of next-generation female leaders interested in the future of the built environment. Headquartered in New York City, the group advocates for increased adoption of technology in real estate through awareness, education and inspiration.
Women in PropTech founder and global ambassador Nikki Greenberg is committed to the concept of sharing insights across disciplines to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the issues and disruption facing the real estate industry.
“Women in PropTech attracts professionals from diverse professions, my own background being in architecture and real estate development. At university, we studied engineering so as architects, we could communicate effectively with engineers and, together, create productive solutions,” says Greenberg. “Facilitating a purposeful dialogue and sharing knowledge between real estate and proptech professionals is integral to leading the industry forward. In creating Women in PropTech, I wanted to open the conversation across professions, geographies and technologies to gain a deeper perspective of what is possible in driving the industry towards a more sustainable future.”
The Women in PropTech Summit expects more than 200 professionals in real estate and proptech and will feature presentations, panels and hands-on workshops from influencers in technology, real estate and capital, including:
- Marti O’Mara, Executive Managing Director, Colliers International
- Emily King, Head of Innovation, Consulate General of Canada in New York
- Calandra Cruickshank, Founder and CEO, Statebook
- Merrit Hummer, Principal, Bain Capital
- Poonam Matthis, Founder and CEO, Raise
- Cindy McLaughlin, CEO, Envelope
- Betsy Reed, VP of Technology, Starwood Capital
Professionals across the real estate and technology industries are attending the Women in PropTech Summit, including executives, founders, engineers, investors, programmers, brokers, consultants, and industry analysts. The Summit is a forum to network, learn and inspire innovators to set a new course for the future of real estate, while emphasizing the importance of diversity.
“We are excited to kick off our initiatives in New York City with the Women in PropTech Summit,” said Calandra Cruickshank, co-chair of Women in PropTech’s New York Chapter. “Our inaugural Summit will convene real estate and proptech professionals to showcase the successes of organizations focused on diversity that are boldly leading the industry into the future. At the Summit, we also are looking forward to announcing the finalists for our first-ever Women in PropTech Global Awards, which recognize forward-thinking individuals and companies who have developed impactful technology for the real estate industry and demonstrated their commitment to diverse thinking and hiring.”
