How Important is Local Content? Ask Redfin
Redfin, the venerable disruptive, tech forward real estate Broker based in Seattle has made it’s first technology acquisition. Details of the deal haven’t been disclosed but it’s one of the smarter moves I’ve seen in the recently bubbly M&A activity in the RE tech space.
“We want to give folks a complete portrait of what it would be like to live somewhere new, within the house and in the surrounding neighborhood.” ~Redfin Blog
Forward thinking agents and brokers know that a huge portion of the value they provide lies in the unique perspective they have on local lifestyle and their ability to best deliver it as content. I expect we will see much more interesting developments regarding local content and technology.

Posted at 07:53h, 27 OctoberGreat guys at WalkScore. I’m sure they’ll do a lot of good things for Redfin. I wonder when they start changing the backlinks embedded in widgets to point to Redfin.
SEO is something Redfin plays hard at, and Zillow has done the same with their widgets. Have they now become a competitor? For online eyeballs, in Seattle, the answer might be yes.
