How To Increase Traffic to Your Website…Google Instantly!

by Justin Britt on 6:14 pm October 7, 2010

Will Google Instant Change The Longtail As We Know It? Recently, I was on Maui (I know…I live a tough life) helping top Wailea real estate agent, Dano Sayles, get up to speed with Hawaii Life’s back end tools. While I was there, I had the pleasure of meeting Dano’s web developer, Brad Carroll, CEO of Dakno Marketing. After a long day of  work—then drinks and sushi at some of South Maui’s local hot spots—Brad and I retired to our townhouse at Hoolei. We stayed … Read More »

Understanding Google's May Day Update

by Justin Britt on 5:28 pm August 4, 2010

Well, I know it’s been awhile since Google’s May Day update that occurred somewhere between Aug 28 and May 3. But understanding Google’s algorithm changes takes testing, research, and more testing—which takes time. Before I get started, it’s important to understand why the May Day update caused such an uproar in the SEO world. With Google pushing out 1+ algorithm changes a day, why spend so much time understanding the May Day update? Because this one update was responsible for traffic losses not seen since … Read More »

RSS Feeds & Real Estate Leads – Really…"Kiss Your 'RSS' Good-bye!"

by Justin Britt on 5:39 pm May 25, 2010

When Eric Bryant wrote the original Kiss Your “RSS” Good-bye, he was referring to RSS feeds being a thing of the past as social networking sites like Twitter provided a filter for really good articles, “Kinda like a ‘Human Aggregator’”. I thought this was a smart observation, but Eric’s post had to do with RSS feeds as they pertain to blogs and the reading of real estate articles. Today, I’m here to talk about RSS feeds as they relate to MLS data. RSS Feeds + … Read More »

Can I Get A RETS Feed?

by Justin Britt on 12:15 am April 27, 2010

I got some great news the other day. One of my local MLS’s finally became RETS compliant. I could now get new properties updated to my site every few hours. I was stoked. The call to the MLS was made shortly after hearing the news, hoping to have RETS up and running within the week. My sales rep picked up the phone and I asked if I could cancel my FTP and XML feeds, and replace it with RETS. “But we don’t offer a RETS … Read More »

Generating Real Estate Leads Through Social Media

by Justin Britt on 2:43 pm March 18, 2010

The question constantly being asked by agents within my brokerage is, “how do I use social media websites like Facebook and Twitter for real estate lead generation?” At a recent Inman conference I had the pleasure of sitting in on a presentation by Bill Tancer of HitWise (check out his book Click). During his talk Bill shared some interesting statistics: Social media accounts for 3% of online business. Of that 50% comes from Facebook (or 1.5%). With so little opportunity coming from social media sites … Read More »

by Justin Britt on 7:39 pm February 14, 2010

I looked up from my computer to see HAR president Tracy Stice sifting through an organized mess of papers on his desk. “So what do you think about RPR (Realtors Property Resource)?” Tracy asks. “Well that depends if they get property data from MLS’s,” I say. Tracy smiles and I realize he knows something I don’t.

by Justin Britt on 1:34 pm November 16, 2009

When trying to rank in search engines one of the most important factors is creating valuable content on your website. Content that is useful to your visitors and that people will naturally want to link to.
