The, Trulia, Zillow Ad Network Race

by Drew Meyers on 12:05 pm March 11, 2011

When it comes to real estate ad networks — Zillow has Yahoo! Real Estate & hundreds of newspapers. Trulia has CNNMoney. has MSN. just announced their deal with yesterday. I think, over the next 12-24 months, we will see a race between Zillow, Trulia, and Move ( to sign up the next wave of niche real estate sites and media outlets to their respective ad networks. Building an inside sales team to sell ads is an extremely expensive undertaking, but required to reach agents all over the country. … Read More »

Zillow + Yahoo Real Estate Partnership Goes Live

by Justin Britt on 1:01 pm February 3, 2011

Shortly after Google announces they will be removing real estate listings from their maps, Zillow and Yahoo Real Estate’s long awaited partnership goes live today. Is this strictly a coincidence? Strategically this is a great move for Zillow, and will effect the real estate industry in several ways. From a real estate agent’s perspective, this expands marketing reach and puts everything into one user interface…saving agents time and allowing them to focus on other tasks. On one of the MLS committees I sit on in Maui, … Read More »

My Hunch on the NAR/ Announcement

by Drew Meyers on 2:32 am September 20, 2010

This is just a hunch, but I believe the fact that NAR has allowed to aggregate MLS data & syndicate all their listings is a direct response to the Zillow deal with Yahoo! Real Estate. Zillow will be syndicating all their listings to Yahoo! Real Estate, which means by putting a listing on Zillow an agent instantly gets it in front of 20+ million UUs (granted, obviously not all of those 20 million will see a particular listing). realizes their sales team no … Read More »

Behind "Door #1" at Inman Connect … "Fear & Embarrassment"

by TheRECoach on 9:51 am July 15, 2010

“This is not my Locker” I know it is inevitable that I will be asked (perhaps 100’s of times) “What did you learn from Inman Connect SF this week”? or “What was the most interesting thing you learned at Inman Connect SF”? or some variation of that general question. In years past I may have made something up to illicit a response like “That’s Nice” or “Wow, that’s great!”, but NOT this year! This year something very accidental, yet incredibly enlightening happened and it all … Read More »

What the Zillow-Yahoo! Real Estate Deal Means to the Real Estate Industry

by Drew Meyers on 8:40 am July 9, 2010

You’ve probably seen the news that Zillow is going to be the exclusive provider of listings to Yahoo! Real Estate, as well as be the exclusive seller of ads to agents and brokers for inventory on YRE. What is the significance of the number 2 and 3 sites in the real estate joining forces? The fact that YRE!’s listing will be powered by Zillow is a nice win meaning that agents and brokers will have one less place to syndicate to, but the real news … Read More »

Yahoo! Real Estate Revamp

by Drew Meyers on 6:42 pm December 9, 2008

Steve Schultz at Yahoo! Real Estate announced a website redesign yesterday on their corporate blog. The two big things to note are the large listing photos on their search pages, which are 4x larger than the previous version of YRE!, and the neighborhood profile videos they are beginning to experiment with in San Francisco. It looks to me like they have partnered with Ten Toe TV for their neighborhood video content — definitely a big win for that company in securing a distribution deal with … Read More »

Real Estate Video Hosting – Viral Websites

by Brad Andersohn on 12:45 am May 11, 2008

With all the video hosting sites available on the Internet today, and many of them for FREE, which one is the best site to be hosting your “Real Estate Videos?” That’s simple. Youtube right? Why not Google or Yahoo? I have been looking into many of the video hosting sites on the web these past few months. There are some fantastic hosting services available from an array of vendors that each offer something very unique. Is one any better than the other? Which service should … Read More »

Yahoo: A "home" in a declining market

by Erion Shehaj on 5:33 pm May 3, 2008

All along, I had a feeling this would happen. Just like an unreasonable seller in a declining real estate market, Yahoo rebuffed the advances of a ready and willing buyer (Microsoft) numerous times. Reason? The offer presented by Mr Softee “shortchanged” Yahoo’s past stock value even though it came at a significant premium over current stock price. At first, the rejection was thought to be an attempt to get the buyer to sweeten the deal. But after Microsoft did just that this past weekend, it … Read More »

Going "Viral" is a Real Estate Agents Dream Come True!

by TheRECoach on 11:38 am April 1, 2008

Yesterday on my personal blog I wrote of the concept of going “Viral” as it pertained to a recent segment I was featured in on a local news program regarding how the Internet is effecting Real Estate in the California Central Valley. Well that clip made it to BlipTV, then to websites throughout the company and so on and so on… Though the majority of my readers are the 300 Agents I coach at Prudential California Realty, and they rarely leave a comment (hint hint), … Read More »

It's Official Now, Cause Yahoo! Says so…Trulia and Pru Unite.

by TheRECoach on 11:05 am March 18, 2008

For those of you who actually read The Coaches Blogs (thanks to both of you BTW), you remember my post on March 10th stating a new relationship with Well it’s official now as witnessed by this Yahoo post. What does this mean for Prudential Realtors and offices? First and foremost, this we will give them the “inside track” with an advertising campaign formally known as the Trulia “Triple Play”, which incorporated Featured Listings, Brand Identity, & Banner advertising (geographically). I love this play for them; It will be extremely … Read More »
